It’s not often that you can achieve a look of sophistication using a budget and environmentally friendly product.
Usually, going ‘green’ has a price tag that’s higher than the traditional solution. But not in the case of movable walls.
Movable walls are not only environmentally responsible, but it’s also fiscally responsible to be green when it comes to office space design.
Take a look at the facts:
Choosing movable walls is way cheaper in the long run because
- they cost less long term than traditional stick built walls
- they can be depreciated over 5 to 7 years as opposed to the 39 years that applies to permanent structures
- can be reconfigured in just a few hours – you can literally change your interior office space parameters overnight
- require no structural changes as they are non-progressive panels that can be rearranged at whim
- causes no damage when reconfigured – no carpet or ceiling patching required
- can easily accommodate all cabling requirements so no expensive electrical work incurred when they’re moved
- there’s very little room for error during the installation process, unlike permanent structures
Of course, movable walls are used only for the interior, non load bearing walls. The fact that they’re built off site as units and simply erected on site makes the process of office space construction very fast. These units are non-progressive so they can literally be configured any way you like and they come in a multitude of finishes. You can even incorporate glass windows, panels and doors. You literally can have any color you like AND be green.
We keep mentioning that these movable walls are green, and depending on your priorities, this could the most important aspect.
When you build office interiors using traditional methods, you’re pretty much stuck with what you have until you decide to spend the money on having everything demolished and carted away – to a landfill, of course - and bring in new materials to build your new configuration.
Commercial waste accounts for a good portion of the waste in landfills. It’s easy to see why. Leased office spaces are continually being demolished and rebuilt. That’s a lot of waste. With movable walls, there’s no demolishing. No waste. No loads to the landfill.
Many larger organizations who reconfigure office space frequently are already au fait with the advantages of movable walls. In fact, United Airlines in San Francisco has been using movable walls since the 1950’s. It’s our prediction that this is a trend that’s going to explode in the near future. The economy simply cannot afford the cost of permanent interior structure – and nor can the environment.
Fortunately, Inscape has just about every kind of movable wall option you can think of. We’ve made it really simple for you. Over the next few weeks, we’re going to be highlighting some of the more popular applications and products in this range, so bookmark this site, subscribe to our reader or follow us on Twitter and Facebook so that you’re automatically updated when we post new information.
