Our new ‘Dealer Support Plan’ offers a greater level of service to our valuable dealer network.

We will be appointing not one Support Representative, but two:

1. Our Dealer Support Representative will be responsible for working closely with our dealer partners providing training and sales call support as well as assisting dealers in any way possible.
   
2. Our Architect & Design Market expert will proactively liaise with members in the design industry in order to proactively drive enquiries and sales to dealers.

Jill Wasley, a corporate trainer from Inscape’s Toronto headquarters, together with Michael Ackelbein the Regional Vice-President and Barbara Cooper, Inscape’s factory representative for Los Angeles advised dealers about how to specify Inscape products for this rapidly changing market.

“The objective of this training is to ensure that our dealers understand our products and to specify furniture solutions that are best suited to our customer’s goals and their designer’s vision,,” says Ackelbein.

Dealers in attendance were Office PlanIt and Olab Studio, Vertex, T.E. Wilson, Kairos, Red Hula, Architype and Office Design Group.

As a judge, I got to see the event from a great vantage point and I have to say that from start to finish it was top drawer.

Everything was perfect, beginning with the venue.  It was held at the Avalon Theater which is an Art Deco gem built in 1921.

Twelve of the finest design firms in L.A. were enthusiastic and creative  in their presentations of the fashions from the golden age of film between the 1930’s and 1960’s. Their challenge was to use architectural and design materials to create a winning Haute Couture fashion show entry interpreting a specific movie from this era. Each team was required to give an explanation of the garment being shown.

Entries were judged on the criteria:

• music
• signage and script content
• interpretation of movie and overall content
• creative use of textiles from the fabric provider
• performance and interaction with the audience
• design firm principle / college professor active participation

To add to the enjoyment of the evening, our hosts made us feel welcome and pampered us the entire evening! I’ve always enjoyed the IIDA events, but at this one, all the sponsors, of which we were one, were paid special attention making it exceptionally memorable.

Kudos to Melissa Mohr of WWOT for her efforts and to Cheryl Durst, IIDA President, for making IIDA fun again!
